Template for legal review. This page is a working draft written to the structure these documents normally take. Items in square brackets must be completed, and the whole document reviewed by a lawyer qualified in US consumer finance and privacy law, before the site goes live.

The short version

We collect the information you give us on an application, plus limited technical information from your device. We use it to route your application to lenders and lessors in our network so they can decide whether to make you an offer. We share it with those providers, and with the service providers that help us operate. We do not sell your personal information for money.

Because this is a financial service, parts of this policy are set by federal law — principally the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act — and parts by the privacy law of the state you live in.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Identity: name, date of birth, Social Security number, government-issued identification
  • Contact: postal address, email address, telephone number
  • Financial: income and its source, employment and time employed, monthly housing cost, bank account details
  • Transaction: the amount requested, what you intend to purchase, and the merchant involved
  • Business applicants: entity name, EIN, time in business, ownership and bank statements

Information we obtain from others

  • Consumer report information from credit reporting agencies, used to route and evaluate your application
  • Decisions, offers and status updates from the lenders and lessors we present your application to
  • Information from a merchant where you applied through that merchant’s application link

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser type, operating system, IP address and approximate region
  • Pages viewed, referring page and interaction with the site
  • Cookies and similar technologies, described in the cookies section below

How we use information

  • To process your application and route it to providers whose criteria you may meet
  • To verify your identity and comply with anti-money-laundering and identity verification obligations
  • To communicate with you about your application, including status updates by email, telephone and text message
  • To respond to your questions and provide customer support
  • To detect, investigate and prevent fraud and misuse of the platform
  • To operate, secure, measure and improve the site
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without human involvement. Credit and lease decisions are made by the provider that receives your application.

Who we share information with

Lenders, lessors and payment solution providers

The core purpose of the platform is to present your application to third-party providers. Each provider that receives your application handles it under its own privacy policy, which governs what it does with your information from that point. If a provider makes you an offer and you accept it, your ongoing relationship — including payments, servicing and credit reporting — is with that provider, not with us.

Service providers

We use vendors to host the site, deliver the online application form, send email and text messages, verify identity, analyse site usage and provide customer support. [Name the application form provider and the other material subprocessors here.] They may use your information only to perform services for us.

Merchants

Where you applied through a merchant’s application link, we share your application status and approval amount with that merchant so it can complete your order. We do not share your Social Security number or full financial detail with merchants.

Legal and corporate

  • Where required by law, subpoena, regulator or court order
  • To protect the rights, property or safety of applicants, the public or Terrace Finance
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply

Selling and sharing for advertising

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money. This site build does not load advertising trackers. Optional analytics is blocked by default and can run only after you choose to allow it in the cookie settings. If advertising or other technologies that may constitute “sale” or “sharing” under applicable state law are added later, they are designed to remain blocked unless an applicable consent or opt-in choice allows them.

You can exercise the choices available to you through our Your Privacy Choices page, and we honour the Global Privacy Control signal where state law requires it.

Cookies and tracking

We use strictly necessary browser storage to operate the site and remember your privacy choices. Optional analytics is disabled by default. Google Analytics 4 is loaded only if you choose to allow analytics and the site administrator has configured a valid GA4 Measurement ID. Advertising trackers are not enabled in this build.

Your choice is stored in this browser so we do not ask on every page. You can change it at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer or through our Your Privacy Choices page. Where applicable, a Global Privacy Control signal keeps sale/sharing and targeted-advertising choices off for that browser.

Most browsers also let you refuse or delete cookies and local storage. Removing site data may reset your saved privacy choice.

How long we keep information

We keep application information for as long as needed to serve the purposes described above and to satisfy our legal and recordkeeping obligations. Records connected to a credit application are generally retained for at least 25 months to meet Equal Credit Opportunity Act requirements, and longer where other law or a provider agreement requires it. [Confirm the retention schedule actually in use.]

How we protect information

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls and staff training. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately at 888-509-1370.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you and how it is used
  • Receive a copy of that information, or have it sent to another business
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete information, subject to exceptions for information we must keep by law
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising
  • Appeal a decision we make about your request, where state law provides an appeal right
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

Information we collect to provide a financial product is largely subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and some state privacy laws exempt that information from their access and deletion rights. Where an exemption applies, we will say so when we respond to you.

To make a request, use our privacy request form, email [email protected] or call 888-509-1370. We verify requests before acting on them, and we respond within the timeframe your state’s law requires — generally 45 days, extendable once.

Credit reporting information

Information obtained from and furnished to consumer reporting agencies is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Our Credit Pull Policy explains when a soft inquiry and a hard inquiry occur, and how to dispute information on your credit file.

Children

This site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Applicants must be old enough to enter a binding contract in their state. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Where a change is material, we will provide notice before it takes effect, as required by law.
